Their stock price is basically back to what it was at the start of the pandemic, so maybe they're just returning to the normal market. Also, eventually the market of likely buyers of the expensive at-home workout equipment will be saturated. Personally, I'd love to get one of their treadmills for the next Minnesota winter and beyond for in-home exercise.

As I understand it, peleton sold a bunch of machines with the computer software that makes it operate included, then later on notified everyone that the software that made it operate was no longer free, and would cost something like 40 dollars a month. And, as I understand it, most of these machines had been purchased on a payment plan, so the people who had them could either continue making monthly payments on a machine that no longer worked, or pay the additional 40 dollars a month to make it work.
But that's just what I heard, I could be wrong.

The options I looked into this winter were:
- Buy an indoor trainer for about $1k, making bike-riding very convenient and also completely pointless and soul-destroying.
- Buy winter gear for about $300, allowing me to ride comfortably in terrible weather, which incidentally is about the most fun thing you could possibly do.
It's not often when both fun and my wallet are in agreement, but when they are, you bet your ass they hold a majority vote.

Maybe monitor the used equipment market?
Many people give up on whatever exercise routines they picked up after a while. There may already be a chunk of the Peloton crowd that have reached that point.
