Japanese Sumo is pretty mainstream in the US… Well, big fat people in diapers at least…

I know the feeling. Here it is a constant battle to correct the son’s pronunciation of the letter “z”. The correct pronunciation for commonwealth countries is zed not the American zee. As well he does not seem to grasp the idea that we do not hold our right hand over our hearts when the national anthem is played and nor do we pledge alligence to the flag. Finally, to stop him from saying “huh” as opposed to the quintessential Canuck “eh” at the end every sentence.

      Elbows up!

Last week my son used the term 'bigly' and I was forced to remove him from my will.

        I was only joking

          A mild punishment for that.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

That's why I told my sister, who lives in NZ, that if they were really committed they would call it New Zedland.

Except that the islands were named by a Dutchman who named them after Zeeland and charted them accordingly.

                Otherwise, you’re probably right.

I wonder what we'd need to do to complete the Americanization. If we do that, we do it right. Then I don't want to be some boring Boston academic family. I want us to go all the way to Southern hillbilly. Would a "Let's go Brandon" shirt be a good start?

@Klaus, acquire a U.S. flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance to it.

Getting a decent (or in fact any) supply of weapons and ammo might be a problem here...

Believe it or not, I chewed a lot of Red Man in Boston.

Of course it is grown here in Virginia and NC

@Klaus perhaps its my own ignorance of expectations, but I've found your grasp of the American culture, lingo, politics, news, etc... seamless. As if you live here. In fact, are you my neighbor here in Minnesota? Admit it. Klaus is SUCH an obvious over acting move to try and sound foreign.
