It doesn’t really look to be a major concern. Omicron is still far more contagious and will be the predominant variant. It will eventually be replaced by something even more transmissible but even less potent.

Unlikely, because if a variant kills its host too quickly, the host would have a much shorter time to walk around to infect others. So in some sense “deadliness” works against transmissibility.
