The variant has a similar genetic background to the Delta variant, as well as some of the mutations from Omicron, explained Dr. Leondios Kostrikis, the head of the laboratory of biotechnology and molecular virology at the University of Cyprus, according to the Cyprus Mail.

It doesn’t really look to be a major concern. Omicron is still far more contagious and will be the predominant variant. It will eventually be replaced by something even more transmissible but even less potent.

OR...
As deadly as Delta and as transmissible as Omicron.

Unlikely, because if a variant kills its host too quickly, the host would have a much shorter time to walk around to infect others. So in some sense “deadliness” works against transmissibility.
