Cast iron cleanup
-
I've started using a metal scrapper to clean up my cast iron while it's still hot. Game changer. It all just comes right off.
That is all. Thought I'd share.
(I used to let it cool down a bit and use a nylon scraper. Caramelized gunk was sometimes tough to get off).

After biscuits or such, I just wipe it out with a paper towel. For some other things, I'll set the skillet on the stove, fill it about a third full of water and bring to a rolling boil. Empty, wipe good with a towel or paper towel. Reapplyoil of choice while skillet is still hot and set it back on the turned off stove eye to cool off, then store.
