COVID Recovery Charge…
-
Just picked up a couple of subs from a local place. I normally offer a 10% tip on pickup during COVID. As I look at the total I notice a surcharge of $1.86 listed above the tax line as COVID Recovery Charge. I asked about it, and they explained it as a 10% charge that goes directly to the staff….

@mik said in COVID Recovery Charge…:
I tip the same for pickup as I do for in house service since COVID started. In my case they'd be screwing themselves.
Same. But a certain kind of customer never, ever tips, and if enough of them are in that area—which in LuFin's case I'm guessing is likely—I can see doing this.

OK, since you opened the "tip" conversation...
I pay a flat fee for delivery through a service like Doordash, GrubHub or whatever. The way I see it, the effort that goes into picking up a meal at, say Chick-fil-A, and delivering it to my home is the same if the meal is $10 or $100.
At a restaurant, that's different because the tip goes to the establishment, not the driver who has no stake in the place. If I tip more, it doesn't help the establishment, and if I tip less, it doesn't hurt.
