Had my first booster in May, second in August, third in October.
Fourth will be in the new year at some point.
As long as this is hanging over me like the sword of Damocles, I’ll do what I need to to keep my antibodies up.

I've had my booster. I'm doing what's recommended - in fact, I got the booster before it was strictly allowed for my age group.
I don't see a good reason not to get the booster, other than the fact that I felt like shit for 24 hours.

I don't understand the thinking behind getting the first shot of a vaccination, then the second, and being reticent about the "booster."
If you were OK with 1 and 2, why, other than the "I'm going to shake my fist at the sky" rebellion against "authority", do object to the booster?

Stole my question. I’m curious too. I can understand not wanting to get one every 3 months indefinitely, though. Unless I was old.

Because at this point I’m supposedly protected against severe disease. The vaccines and boosters seem to be doing damn little to slow the spread of Xi variant, so preventing spread seems to be futile. Moderna announced yesterday that their Booster offers 40 times more protection than just their base 2 doses. Great. 40 times 0 is 0, woohoo. (Or should I say Wuhan?) Without knowing that first variable, we have no way to have an educated decision on whether the booster truly and effectively helps prevent spread. Nobody has explained to this point why a third dose will now produce a different type of antibodies than the first and second shots, and the UK has had a robust booster program in place for several months now. I’d say their numbers seem to indicate that the booster isn’t that great at stopping Xi.
So why should I go get another shot of something that doesn’t appear to give me that much more protection than I already have? The risk/reward doesn’t measure up quite the same way that it did for the first vaccination. Especially when there will likely be a Xi specific booster in 2 months and we will have a much better understanding of the risks.
Yes, there could be an argument that I pose a risk to those that are immune compromised but looking at the numbers, I honestly don’t believe that an unvaccinated person poses that much bigger a threat than somebody fully vaccinated and boosted. Of the 7 people in my circle that got COVID over the last two weeks, five were fully vaxxed and 3 were boosted.

@lufins-dad I think your last sentence is your lead reason, and that sucks! That being said, I don't see "risk/reward" with booster. It's not like the risk is any different from the first shot. And studies (even if it's times zero) show you have a 25-40x antibodies with the booster, so... why not.
Then again, if I were old or really fat, I would be more worried.

@aqua-letifer I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I meant most of those dying from COVID are in those categories.

I agree. I wonder if it is the same mindset of people who never complete their prescribed course of antibiotics.

Well, you already said it. I’m not particularly worried about side effects of the vaccine. It they continue this shit, I consider it an act of civil disobedience against government overreach.

i dont know yet what i think of a fourth dose, but...
in childrens vaccine schedule, DTP is giving four times between 2 months to 15 months, at an interval at first of every two months.
same for H Flu vaccination
same for pnemococcus vaccination
polio is only given thrice, but also at two month intervals
can u call them "vaccines"??
the immune system is complex. Covid is new. the best way to manipulate the immune system to get it to protect is still being worked out. so i dont think one has to be so dogmatic on what is considered a vaccine.

I got boosted a while ago, this will open a lot of doors for me.
The 4th shot won't open any additional doors.
I might consider selling my second booster (4th shot) shot record, I understand there are people willing to pay you to get a shot for them. I could get my 4th shot and make a few bucks doing it.
