Happened in another city in California yesterday.
And in Chicago on Saturday.
What's the endgame here?

There usually isn't one.
It's a serious question.
What will it take for these incidents to stop? Right now, "security" is prohibited from interfering with shoplifting - just google "Target Store Shoplifting" and you'll see dozens of videos of people just walking out. Ditto Walgreens in SF, if you recall.
An armed guard at the door? Good luck if things go south. Don't want no vigilantes taking matters into their own hands.
Cops? As the saying goes, "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away."

Increase police? How many police officers would it have taken to thwart this incident?
Look, we've already done this many times and in many areas. Income inequality continues to rise, which means crimes like this will, on the whole, get more and more prevalent. There's no greater sociological correlation than between those two.
And we've seen this before, many times. The answer we keep trying, over and over, is to increase police, coupled with private security. We create gilded cages for our aristos until the peasants get big enough in number and then heads literally start to roll. We've never figured this out outside of violent revolution. So yeah, no end game.

inequality continues to rise
Maybe the wrong income is being compared
The poorest don't compare well with the wealthiest
Compare the poorest with poverty
That looks like some good progress, the obamapho makes a difference

I have a close person who works in law enforcement. They said you could walk to a (nearby city, I won't disclose) and the police are specifically told NOT to interfere with shoplifters. You could literally watch someone go into a CVS, and walk out with a handful of stolen items, and the police policy is not to deal with it.

Essentially to avoid a minor confrontation that could lead to a national news story as we have seen so many times now. Better to have minor shoplifting than a city-wide riot.

Holy balls what a terrible reason to not do your job. Not saying it's his fault, though; just proof positive that modern liberal shenanigans are eroding our stability.

Yeah we have more than enough tools to deal with the shenanigans of the right. We've gleefully dealt with the Jan 6 dimwits. We do not have a culture capable of dealing with the shenanigans of the left. Both sides are, once again, not equal.

With no prompting from me, my completely non-political wife is unsettled by all these organized looters in the San Francisco area. It doesn't take a tribalist to be unsettled by our entrenched leftist mob chaos. It takes a tribalist not to be.
