Driver plows through Waukesha, WI Christmas parade.
-
I've been in Waukesha many times. Actually, driven through it many times, and stopped about a dozen times.
It's a typical Wisconsin suburban community. Strip malls, apartment complexes and upper-middle-class homes in subdivisions. It could be any town in the US.
Kenosha (which I drove through every time we went to the Cheddarshack) is a more industrial, business-oriented town. Perhaps "middle-class." We bought our 3rd GeorgeVan in Kenosha, and the family had a picnic on the lake there, about 15 months ago.

Mr. Mercedes.
I hope they catch the driver tonight.

Person of interest in custody.

Did it look like they tried to go around the marching band then accelerated into the main throng?

So far we know of at least 5 dead and over 40 injured. We also know that among those are members of a Marching Band (high school students?), a priest, school children, a group of girls in Santa hats and waiving pompons (no ages given), and a group called The Dancing Grannies.
No, Wisconsin does not have the death penalty if anyone is wondering.

Would only recommend watching if you can handle it. Doesn't show bodies, but shows enough...including the first clip of him speeding past a dancing little girl (could've very well been my girl at the July 4th parade we attended in a very similar small town in MN) who was lucky not to get hit.
Also shows the likely perp (Darrell Edwards Brooks Jr).... and I highly doubt he was just fleeing another scene, and even if he was, his actions in the parade were deliberate.

Or crazy.

"Living in Wisconsin, he probably felt threatened," read another post attributed to Lemanski, referring to the SUV driver in the Waukesha case.
"I’m sure he didn’t want to hurt anyone," she added. "He came to help people."
The messages appeared to mock the self-defense argument that Rittenhouse and his defense team made during their recent trial – an argument with which a Wisconsin jury apparently agreed as they found the 18-year-old not guilty of murder in connection with two shooting deaths last year.
"The blood of Kyle Rittenhouse’s victims is on the hands of Wisconsin citizens," she writes at one point, "even the children."

The Bee needs to have a regular feature, Ask a Progressive White Woman. It would be pure comedy gold.
