What do you do with your leaves? (Not YOU, George)

This year we are mulching them all in. I've had my neighbor kid do it three times now and they are doing very well (we have a LOT of leaves). You'd be surprised what they mulch down to. Seems to me making more soil is better than filling up landfills.

Leaves + tea leaves + other household waste = damn fine compost.

Yep... been doing it for years. The lawn loves it.

The mulching lawn tractor turns them to dust, not much mulch left.
When I have a lot of leaves, like now, I'll bag them and they are collected as yard debris that probably is mixed with mulch by the collector.
I use the leaf blower to suck them up, it crunches and compacts them.
I use 55 gallon bags, I put out 10 bags last week and 5 this week and there are still plenty to go.

Sometimes I mulch them, sometimes I blow them into the woods next to the house.
This year I've mostly been swearing at them.

If I mulched all of our leaves, we would be buried in three years. We mulch some, rake and bag some, and I leave some scattered around on the lawn. It works well…

I use a 48 inch yard sweeper, put them in the garden and disc them in.

Is that a jibe at my stew recipe?

Nah. There are some folks that swear beer can jump-start a compost pile.

I've never heard of that! I can see the reasoning, though.

But what a waste of beer!
Is it okay if it’s recycled beer?

First time owning my own house/yard. Mainly mulch with a little rake/bag (well, yard waste bin) for the times where LOTS of leaves would fall overnight. I know mulching is good for the yard, but also heard it can lead to some thatch down the road.
