You can't fill 24 hours on a National Format. Maybe a few blocks dedicated to international news? And a few blocks specifically dedicated to local.

How much could you do? Maybe an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening of national, half that of international and a half-to-one-hour of local or regional. That's three hours.
Let's loop that into 3x/day, with minor updates and changes. After 9 hours programming, you could have 3 or 4 hours commentary. I think that's the maximum you could draw it out. Maybe repeat the whole thing overnight, break in for anything earth-shattering and then start the cycle again the next morning.

The potential is there. The financial motivation (aka fewer eyeballs and clicks) is not.
Exactly. Always, ALWAYS, follow the money. Now that Trump is off the radar (at least as far as policy goes), they have little to talk about.

Donning my tinfoil hat....How about a Tank For Trump? A reelection of Trump in 2024, shucks even an ascendency in 2023, would make for gangbuster ratings...For Five Years!

Wouldn't that just be a hoot? CNN, Fox, et al, always are looking at what would make the most money.
Go for it, CNN!
