I thought relentless shaming was a tool we use to prevent bad people from doing bad things. Maybe I was only thinking of the vaccination conversations.

No, you're right, it applies there, too. How's that working out, by the way?

I am sure shame plays a large role in preventing crime. In some cultures or families more than others.

As Aqua said, downstream of social and economic forces. It can be one’s best option. When I graduated puter school there were no jobs. None. So I went back to trafficking for a few months. It got me through until something opened up and I dropped it like a hot rock.

Sure does. To a point. And provided society's working as it should in about a dozen ways that influence crime rates.

Back when you graduated puter school I rather doubt there were any puters.

          I was only joking

So, shame is not a non-factor, and in a politician's messaging, it's not undue to include some of that, against the criminals.

            Education is extremely important.

It may go into their permanent file. No erasing that.
