    School shooter released on bail:

The student accused of injuring four people in a shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington on Wednesday has been released on bail from the Tarrant County Jail.

The family of Timothy Simpkins, 18, gathered outside the jail and joined in a prayer circle before escorting Simpkins to be processed and released.

Simpkins was transferred from the Arlington jail to the Tarrant County facility before being released Thursday afternoon.

Just for some perspective, several Jan 6 rioters still in jail.

      Good.

      Only non-witches get due process.

So...It's more egregious to commit a misdemeanor than to shoot four people?

        Okay...

Are the people still in jail for the Jan 6 riot not having money for bail or they are denied bail?

Interesting. There must be reasons behind the judge(?) decision.

I do not know enough about the bond system to really know how it is decided.

More perspective. There are thousands of people in the US serving life sentences for non-violent crimes.

Maybe what's happened to the Capitol riot douchebags will wake conservatives up a bit?

That's true. But nonviolent ≠ misdemeanor. Selling tons of cocaine/fentanyl is a nonviolent crime. Bernie Madoff committed no violent crime.

Several of the riot douchebags have been charged with, and pled guilty to various felonies. That's good.

Why are the accused (not convicted) nonviolent people still in jail, 9 months later?

And, since you bring up violence, this douchebag who shot 4 people in a school is out on bail.

                  This is Alice-in-WOnderland stuff.

Yeah, fair point. I also think that one of the main reasons for the long sentences is the 'three strikes' rule.

I do think that the US prison system needs urgent reform. I know people hate comparisons, but the number of Americans in prison is significantly higher than in other comparable countries

I'd like a better understanding of what each of those jailed people actually did on January 6. Is it true that a person who was in the demonstration on Jan 6, saw a bunch of his or her fellow demonstrators walking through an open Capitol door, followed them in, and did some unsupervised sight seeing, is still in jail to this day? Or are there aggravating factors for the people in jail?

                      Education is extremely important.

Eventually they will renounce Mr. Trump and be released.

                        No big deal.

I don't think most people are really interested in this level of detail. One side is too busy shouting 'attempted coup', whilst the other yells 'Fascist state holding people without trial'.

How about this: let's figure out how to wake the left up and then hopefully we wont have uninformed people susceptible to propaganda running around referring to Jan 6 as a riot by a bunch of "douchebags". If we can figure that out, maybe they'll start to question why they believed it when rioters who were looting, burning, and killing were referred to as "mostly peaceful protesters" and they sat there silently yet never miss the opportunity to ake disparaging remarks like "douchebags" when referring to a group of people who never actually rioted.
