Noises from the attic

Maybe a ghost... but in the late evening I can sometimes hear an animal in the attic. Scurrying, scratching (like it's trying to eat a nut or carve something). Also heard it around 6am. My guess is it's a squirrel based on those hours (9pm, 6am), but others have said it could be a bat, flying squirrel, or raccoon. Fun times.
So off to get the shotgun
