The US and the UK to share nuclear submarine technology with Australia.

This new arrangement angered the Chinese Communist Party and France for France loses a $66 Billion diesel submarine deal previously negotiated with Australia.

All for it. Let the aussies have any toys they want. Besides nuclear subs doesn’t mean nuclear weapons. Just clean safe energy, and they can stay submerged indefinitely, as long as supplies like food and water last.

And if it angers the French, c’est la vie.

This used to piss off my dad enormously (he worked in the industry). It was like back in the 80's, when CND were always going on about banning nuclear power, as though the power stations and the bombs were one and the same thing.

Exactly. Just like Iran, even having the world’s fourth largest oil reserves in the world doesn’t mean they don’t need clean energy.

The times reporting that France recalled its ambassador to Washington.

For some reason I don’t think America should feel threatened by this.

Good! Because the last thing you want is to have greens fighting on your nuclear submarine.

                            Please love yourself.

Greens are fighting with teeth and nails and the other side is fighting with nuclear subs. Wonder which will win?

Oh, and these submarines can go into theme hearts of cities? Amazing! I remember when they could only go out into the ocean.

                                  Kerry: "Biden had no idea"

Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry said on Monday that President Joe Biden “literally had not been aware of what had transpired” in upsetting France over last month’s nuclear-powered submarine deal the United States did with Australia.

“President Biden asked me about it, and I told him, and expressed…,” said Kerry in an interview with French cable channel BFMTV.

“You told Joe Biden that it was not the right…,” asked an interviewer.

“He asked me. He said, ‘what’s the situation?’ and I explained exactly, uh… He was he had not been aware of that, he literally, literally had not been aware of what had transpired,” said Kerry. “And I don’t want to go into the details of it, but suffice it to say, that that the president… My president is very committed to, um, strengthening the relationship and making sure that this is a small event of the past and moving on to the much more important future.”

The deal, known as AUKUS, seeks to allow Australia to protect itself in the Indo-Pacific from the threat posed by China. However, France was upset that Australia reneged on a $66 billion nuclear-powered submarine deal that the two sides had in 2016.

In the very best of hands.
