Why PA? It’s not really a hotspot compared to most and in fact, the death and hospitalization rate is very low… The picture of the Pittsburgh skyline is also surprising as Allegheny County’s numbers are far lower than they were in April and May.

Shouldn’t Louisiana be getting all the nursing help they can get?

The health systems are paying for it so it’s a great question as why they are addressing it differently. It’s not a state thing as far as I can tell.

I went on to the staffdna website and searched by state. Louisiana hospitals aren’t paying as much but it is still over 5k a week.

$5K a week for (presumably) a 40-50 hour week and no call?

                  No malpractice to pay for?

Shit, did I ever choose the wrong job.

                  In Chicago it's as high as $4500 a week for a 16 week commitment - 40 hours.

Maybe super short term. Maybe you have to have thought through everything you need to become a travel nurse. So much we don’t know with an expert interpreting but it’s big payroll expense to hospitals.

@loki I know of two nurses who were "travel" nurses. One of them actually bought an RV and worked in Bethel, Alaska. Bethel is a town that has no access other than by air or by water. She had to have her car shipped in. She hated it.

Another worked at my place for about a year. She loved it. Stayed in the Midwest, made good coin, and was a joy.

It surely takes a certain personality to deal with it.

But for 16 weeks at $4.5K a week?

Having lived my life, I could put up with just about anything for 4 months for $18K a month.
