      Yeah, no.

      Bought Lucas a 1 TB upgrade for his PC 2 years ago. $120. While we were in line he was complaining about how expensive it was. I laughed and told him 32 MEGS(!) cost $400 in 1992…

        When I was in school 10mb hard drives were $10K.

          OK, well, if you want to go there...

          My 32K (yes, kilobyte) upgrade for my first computer was $450.

          No doubt SSDs have gotten cheaper over the years, but this is just ridiculous.

          I've been on a mailing list for Mac users since the mid 1990s. The consensus for reliability is still a spinning platter hard drive - if, and only if, you're willing to spend the $$ for a high quality device (not bus-powered, good heat dissipation, etc).

            There are a lot of Chinese companies now offering too good to be true deals. They either take the money and deliver nothing or send something vastly substandard to what you ordered.

              My new PC has a 1TB NVME M.2 internal drive. The load speeds are ridiculous. Except of course after about 5 minutes you don't notice them. Until you go back to using an old computer - then you really notice them.

              I was only joking

                @doctor-phibes yup, same here

                And yea @George-K maybe in 5 years that’ll be the price point for 8TB but not now.
