U.S. officials provided Taliban with names of Americans, Afghan allies to evacuate

U.S. officials in Kabul gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies to grant entry into the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport, a choice that's prompted outrage behind the scenes from lawmakers and military officials.
The move, detailed to POLITICO by three U.S. and congressional officials, was designed to expedite the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from Afghanistan as chaos erupted in Afghanistan’s capital city last week after the Taliban seized control of the country. It also came as the Biden administration has been relying on the Taliban for security outside the airport.
But the decision to provide specific names to the Taliban, which has a history of brutally murdering Afghans who collaborated with the U.S. and other coalition forces during the conflict, has angered lawmakers and military officials.
“Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list,” said one defense official, who like others spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive topic. “It’s just appalling and shocking and makes you feel unclean.”
A spokesperson for U.S. Central Command declined to comment.
C'mon, man! I mean, why wouldn't you trust the Talibs?

The damn fool makes Carter look competent.
That takes talent. It really does...

The news comes just hours after two Islamic State terrorist attacks rocked the area just outside the airport, killing at least four U.S. Marines and wounding dozens more. A number of Afghans were also killed in the bombings.
I mean, my God.
I'm serious about this: What could possibly be the rationale here? Why was this seen as a good idea?

How many levels had to clear this? It’s not just the Presidency. This is ludicrous…

That's what I'm saying. A fuckup this huge involves an assload of people. There was some mad rationale that a ton of people signed off on. I want to know what that is.

Biden in his remarks 'blamed' the fact that no American had been killed since February 2020 on the fact that Trump made a deal with the Taliban not to attack Americans. As if that was somehow a fault that he was stuck with when he took office.
Hell, he overturned every Trump action he could find the first day. Now he fucked that up.

Well it was in the context of a zinger question by the Fox reporter and honestly Biden owned him. The Fox reporter converted a mediocre performance into a plausible own. That was my take.

Mr. Biden rehearsed that act for hours.
Then when the time came he obviously forgot the reporter's name.
Mr. Biden is demented.
And he didn't own anyone.

I think basically because the Taliban are now the only bouncers outside the club, and we have to rely on them to get people into the club (airport). We are now forced to rely on them….or we’ll send our military back in (which I’m expecting to happen, btw)
