    Here's my problem...

Mrs. George has the TV on ALL THE FUCKING TIME. If I use any streaming service, I'm going to bump up against the data cap for my ISP.

So, I stick with cable (Comcrap) so she can watch her shit on TV.

I can get unlimited data for an additional $30 a month - I might just do it.

If it were up to me, I'd be happy with HULU, Amazon Prime and Netflix.

But it's not, "I need to watch (insert demanded channel/show here):___________________"

      Indeed.

She falls asleep with the TV on. For 7-8 hours....

      That's a lot of data.

Shouldn't be too hard to detect when somebody is not actually watching TV anymore and interrupting the data stream until the gaze turns back to the TV. Heck, even a "switch the TV off after 1 hour if no button is pressed" thing would prevent the worst data cap attacks...

George, mind if I ask . . . I'm getting killed with overuse with my provider (Verizon); can you tell me who your provider is?

            @catseye3 Comcast (Xfinity).

I pay about $60 a month for internet service. An additional $30 would give me her unlimited data.

I used to love listening to Lehigh Valley College Radio. On one or two mornings, a film prof. and his geeky friend would host a show about movies. Topics were all over the place.

On one, the guy was saying he was going on an 80s horror bender: Nightmare on Elm St, Child's Play, etc.

His friend was like, "the Chucky movies? Seriously? Why?"

"Well, film is relatively new. There are only so many good things out there. You reach a certain point where you gotta learn to appreciate good trash."

                    Please love yourself.

                      Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, Amazon Prime.

Haven't seen a commercial in such a long time, I was taken back by them when visiting my mother this month.

Why do you put up with this crap?

I am at least 4 generations of new prescription drugs behind in my awareness. lol

The names of these drugs just keep getting more ridiculous. I am so glad to be home in the land of no commercials.

We haven't cut the cord. Maybe I'm not fluent in the options out there (although we do have Prime, Disney, Peacock, Netflix too), but nearly 90% of what we watch is DVR so we don't see any commercials either (we just fast forward through them). But I enjoy the live sports, news, and the various shows that air that (again) we DVR to watch when we have time.

So if you wanted to watch the Today show at 7am, or you wanted to watch the Nationals playoff game at 8pm, or you wanted to watch the latest episode of the Walking Dead, YouTubeTV streams all of that live (and records)?

You tell it which Live TV shows to record and when they are broadcast YouTube TV puts them into your YouTube TV library. You access the recordings using the YouTube TV Web Browser, phone App or tablet App or Roku App or XBox App.

You don't have a copy of the recording sitting on a device in your home. And I doubt it has a unique copy of the show with your name on it, I suspect it just keeps a list of who recorded which shows. If we both recorded an episode of Green Acres I suspect we would share a single copy of the show.

And it knows about a TV series, for example, I have it set to record all the Tucker Carson episodes.

You can watch the beginning of a show while it is still in progress.

Hahaha it was just an example! The last time I saw an episode of Today it was about 85% commercials, I couldn't believe it.

Wow, that is pretty cool. May have to take a closer look at YouTube TV. Not sure what it doesn't provide that Xfinity cable provides.

Hey hey hey! We have been ON THE PLAZA at the Today show live. I chatted with whatsisname, now the NBC anchor. Lester Holt. yeah.. I had to look him up. He looks very tall, but he's actually not and very, very skinny.

(MFR wanted to go. I wanted to go to Bouchon Bakery which was there).
