    Screw 'em.

Most decorating trends are just that - trends. It's some way for people to sell you something new to replace something fully functional.

      Things that I'm guilty of:

Brass hardware in bathrooms (but not shiny!)
      The aforementioned linoleum floor
The lace curtains (in the bath at the Cheddarshack)
      Tiffany Lamps (still have 'em)

      Things I inherited:

      Tiled countertop (bath and kitchen!)
      Paneling
      Wooden (butcher block) countertop
      Glass Block Window (x 2!)
      Vertical Blinds
      Hollywood lights
      Sponge wall

The house we moved into has 3 of those things (mainly the brass fixtures, metal wall art, and some ridiculously large heavy curtains on the main living room window), we are slowly updating it all. We are personally guilty of zero of those items on the list, but I'm sure if we check again in 20 years...

And @George-K I'm disappointed you don't have a massive painting of the Mrs. above your fireplace!

That's where the TV is. Not as entertaining, not as practical, but you gotta make do.

Exactly. Everything listed in that article will come back at some point.

I'm not going to take an article with ads about "how to unclog toilet" with secret powders as a voice of authority about anything, let alone what to do with one's home.

                  Please love yourself.

There's another article entitled "How to connect with your spirit animal". I think I'll pass.

It's probably bath salts, which I would guess the article writers do know a thing or two about.

We inherited butcher block countertops. Still have them and they work. No reason to replace.

We also inherited paneling in the entry and living rooms. Only one wall in the living room. It was stained and finished on-site in the early 1950s. I think it looks just fine.

                            None of the other stuff.

Ours is over 70 years old. It has small bathrooms. Except, every bedroom has one. lol

Who needs a giant room to do those activities anyway? Waste of space IMO.
