Excellent scholarship in this article - it cites Nigel Tufnel.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

We always used to play the old standard Summertime in D minor. We managed to survive the experience, although admittedly we frequently left our listeners weeping.

      I was only joking

That probably would have occurred regardless of what key you played it in.

Alto or Tenor? Transposing to Bm is a bigger pain than Em…

My brother and I used to busk it in the local bus station for beer money - there was a very resonant underground walkway, and the sound carried a long way. One time, a little old lady came up to us and very politely said 'You both sound very nice....but do you really need to both play at the same time?'

            I was only joking

I know it’s sad when Klaus plays anything in D minor.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

OK, for the really musical people here....

I've never understood why some music is written in specific keys.

Is C major really that different from D-flat major? In this day of equal temperament, the differences in "color" whatever seem to be negligible.

Of course, Eb was the "heroic" key, back in the day. Does it really matter today?

It's certainly heroic if you play the alto sax.

The biggest problem I always had was playing with bloody guitarists, and they all want to play in E major and Am, which puts an alto player in C# major and F#m. What a pain in the ass.
