Sex Is Real

I've also said before I think being attracted to the same sex, or thinking you're a different gender, are both disorders of a kind. Whether mental and/or biological, they're a disorder if you look at the broader picture. Of course, this statement probably makes many reading it feel uncomfortable, and yet categorizing MANY other human behaviors as disorders or disabilities is perfectly acceptable. For example, I have a mild case of hyperhidrosis where I can sweat very easily without doing anything. This is a disorder. We all probably have disorders of one kind or another.
Doesn't really do much to resolve the issue, though. The better question is how we should treat the "disorder."
The problem is, any conversation about "transgenders" is ridiculous. "They" are not all coming from the same place. Most I've met don't have a gender issue, but a real and serious attention-seeking disorder issue. If the most talked about taboo in society were, say, transracial rights instead, they'd all be dying their skin.
Others don't ever want to talk about it. They never mention it online or in conversation. The last thing they want is to have a discussion about it. They're working hard on being comfortable with themselves and others, not making some kind of a statement.
The attention seekers need serious help. But I don't see how labels help with anyone who's completely pot-committed to changing their gender. If all they want is to get along with themselves and others, that's more than I can say for the shit-stirrers on both sides of the political aisle who talk about "transgenders" as if they know something special.

@aqua-letifer Agreed, and well said. Over the last few years I've tried harder to focus on the beam in my eye and not the speck in another's eye. #bible... That being said, I don't think it's judging to view the topic/discussion and (at least to me) be befuddled that such topics have such social pressure to be accepted. I'd say the same thing if someone was transracial (to your point) or even trans-species (ok... that's more of a Family Guy clip than real, but still).

I really couldn't care less whether somebody wants to be called he, she, or whatever. I don't care whether people want to marry a man, a woman, or whatever.
It doesn't really affect me. Why get so worked up about something that doesn't really impact my life in any way?

In general I agree. To answer your last question, though, I think there is a visceral social duty felt (or at least that I feel) when you see society around you normalizing things that are a piece of a broader loosening of societal norms and standards, especially at a rapid rate. I'm not out protesting or anything, but when the topic is raised I don't want to be yet another voice that is too afraid of PC actions to say anything. On an internet forum. With partial anonymity. LOLZ

Yes
Some behavior is really disgusting and it is OK to say so
You certainly don't have to "embrace" and "celebrate" or "accept" filthy disgusting behavior
The government shouldn't give protected status to disgusting behavior
I have virtue to spare, so it is OK if I speak the truth here

Do your children go to a public school? If so, you are affected.

No, I'm really not. Also, my daughter is a lot more broadminded about this stuff than I am.

Exactly what they want. Define deviancy downward and then infect all those young minds of mush.

Sure, they're all brainwashed.
And all the people who think homosexuals are disgusting are free thinkers unencumbered by external influence and/or emotional thinking.

First they allow the gays into public school. What's next? Playing Elvis over the wireless?

Some people got worked up about this

Yes, you've really knocked the nail on the head with that comparison. Well done!

At least we're thinking. I don't think they are disgusting, but I also don't think they fit my definition of what constitutes success in life. But that doesn't matter, let them live their lives in peace and harmony...Just don't tell my school age kid that the homosexual lifestyle is normal.
And don't tell my kid that transgendered is normal, either.
In fact, there's a whole lot of shit that has absolutely no business in a K-12 classroom. We've got kids that can't read or do basic math, and we want to drag homosexuality, transgenderism, revisionist history and class warfare into the classroom and I assume that's just hunky-dory by you?
