And that is nationally... if you dig into a state (like Minnesota) there's not much of an increase at all. Same with Ohio... Virginia... But you definitely see an increase in states like Alabama. Probably due to anti-vax sentiment?
Could be regional/seasonal. Same thing happened last year, the south ramped up in summer, the north not until late fall.

I’m not exposed to any anti vaccine messaging so I always struggle to find it to be the important boogeyman regarding vax rates. I wonder what the rate would be, absent whatever FB anti vaxers and their allegedly broad cultural sway. I mean even Trump strongly encouraged vaccines.
Yep. I have asked people I know what their calculation on risk vs. reward is and no one has been able to put anything coherent to it. But they post memes about sheep and comparing the vaccinated to Nazi era Jews being loaded onto rail cars.
If you believe...

Your experience is not mine. At all.

The data shows a vast difference between vaccination rates for states that voted for Trump and states that voted for Biden. Is there an alternate explanation for that?
Surveys also show a thirty point spread between GOP and democrats on willingness to get the vaccine. Any explanation for that?
I do agree that Trump was amazing with Operation Warp Speed. Too bad he isn’t following up now.

- Trump conservatives think the government is an asshole.
- Trump conservatives hate being told what to do.
- The government is strongly urging people to get vaccinated, and is entertaining ideas about vaccine passports and mandatory vaccination.
It can't be rationally argued that these are unrelated.

We now have a massive control group and vaccinated group which will be studied and recorded for all of history for all time.
In the short run rhetoric will win the argument and when the truth comes out those people will disappear.
The philosophical question is how much suffering will we bear until we get back to the good old patriotic freedom loving days like with polio where everyone just took the vaccine and we eradicated it.

I worked last evening at my little rural hospital. We've got four staff out, confirmed COVID. One lab, one respiratory, two nurses.
Three out of four, fully vaccinated.

Of course
Obviously
But cnn still will not stop saying Trump and followers are anti-vax
I think some people even believe that
Trump encouraged vaccines? Why didn't he put some money into that or urge the pharma companies to hurry up?

Wait, before we get to alternate explanations for that, what is your primary explanation for that?

It doesn’t matter what I think. It matters what the data shows and is predicted to show. If the data is corrupt or misleading that would be helpful to know.

And the data shows what, again? Are you talking about the correlation between Trump voters and vaccination rates?

Not after the years of abuse and lies from cnn.
I understand, it is just not possible to believe otherwise.
States with lower vaccination rates have lower crime rates, balanced budgets, smarter governors, better weather, and all sorts of interesting statistical differences with states that have high vaccination rates.
I don't think Mr. Trump has ever been anything other than supportive of getting the covid-19 vaccine.
But still, true believers just can't see it. Amazing.

I'd agree those reasons are all part of the stew.

Jackie is in her fifties with psoriatic arthritis, so her biologic means she's immunocompromised. The other three are all between 23 and 37, no health problems that I know of. I noted the other day that Baton Rouge was getting bad, and it's starting to get sporty up here.
I probably did a dozen rapids for the ED last night. Pinged positive on a third of them. But...I had a call from Willis-Knighton's lab, for a PCR referral that had a negative rapid test. It was positive on referral, so I'm trying at 1900 to coordinate results
with a home health nurse, trying to get the patient and her family quarantined. Just another day at the ranch.May one live in interesting times...

Bullshit. You’re quoting polls. Polling is a very poor data set. The numbers are showing that there are massive numbers of young adults and African Americans not getting the vaccine. Those aren’t exactly Republican Voting Blocs… However, it’s been shown that over 90% of whites over 60 have been vaccinated… Somebody posted about it just yesterday.
