That's interesting. Awfully specific to just be a 'oh yeah, I agree with that so I'll copy it'.

We are seeing a bit of an uptick in Ohio but nothing like the dreaded spikes they are talking about.

      Agreed.

Nationally, we are seeing an uptick in new cases but still below what we had in April, so nothing too alarming. Also this is new cases... the charts for deaths is still nearly flat.

And that is nationally... if you dig into a state (like Minnesota) there's not much of an increase at all. Same with Ohio... Virginia... But you definitely see an increase in states like Alabama. Probably due to anti-vax sentiment?

The first two accounts both have <100 followers.

So - likely just two blokes that coped a viral tweet (the doctor shows 40K retweets)

@xenon following up on those, some people were saying they're bots.

I don't know enough about twitter, but it strikes me as being possible.

            @george-k They may be bots.

This pattern is very normal on other social content sites, like reddit, though.

Some people just re-post popular posts (as their own) for fake internet points and kudos.

Deaths fall behind new cases by several weeks. We wouldn't see a surge in deaths yet if they were coming.

                    I look at hospitalization data.

Every major healthcare organization lobbied for mandatory vaccinations for all healthcare workers. That’s for a reason. Maybe the vax made them zombies for the deep state.

I realize I am self righteous for pointing out what is scientifically obvious.

Ivermectin the hero of some has 2000 patients world wide studied while vaccines have a study group that is the largest in the history of mankind.

If we can’t see what is obvious here we have to have more deaths and more lock downs, more masks, more booster shots and a slowing economy until people can see.

Hospitalizations are forecast to triple by mid fall from today.

Yeah - I wish people would just get vaccinated already. For selfish reasons.

I've been doing a lot of work thinking about re-opening our office.

                        Now there's talk of backtracking.

Just a waste of human capital and effort.

I get people have concerns about the vaccine... but they work... people need to get over themselves.. for the good of the country.

I’m not exposed to any anti vaccine messaging so I always struggle to find it to be the important boogeyman regarding vax rates. I wonder what the rate would be, absent whatever FB anti vaxers and their allegedly broad cultural sway. I mean even Trump strongly encouraged vaccines.

Could be regional/seasonal. Same thing happened last year, the south ramped up in summer, the north not until late fall.

Yep. I have asked people I know what their calculation on risk vs. reward is and no one has been able to put anything coherent to it. But they post memes about sheep and comparing the vaccinated to Nazi era Jews being loaded onto rail cars.

The data shows a vast difference between vaccination rates for states that voted for Trump and states that voted for Biden. Is there an alternate explanation for that?

Surveys also show a thirty point spread between GOP and democrats on willingness to get the vaccine. Any explanation for that?

I do agree that Trump was amazing with Operation Warp Speed. Too bad he isn’t following up now.

The data shows a vast difference between vaccination rates for states that voted for Trump and states that voted for Biden. Is there an alternate explanation for that?

                                        • Trump conservatives think the government is an asshole.
                                        • Trump conservatives hate being told what to do.
                                        • The government is strongly urging people to get vaccinated, and is entertaining ideas about vaccine passports and mandatory vaccination.

It can't be rationally argued that these are unrelated.

We now have a massive control group and vaccinated group which will be studied and recorded for all of history for all time.

In the short run rhetoric will win the argument and when the truth comes out those people will disappear.

The philosophical question is how much suffering will we bear until we get back to the good old patriotic freedom loving days like with polio where everyone just took the vaccine and we eradicated it.

I worked last evening at my little rural hospital. We've got four staff out, confirmed COVID. One lab, one respiratory, two nurses.

Three out of four, fully vaccinated.
