Hedge Funds as Single Family House Owners

Another article on out-of-state hedge funds and investors snapping up local houses and driving up prices and rents in the process.
Cannot quantify it yet, but I suspect this won’t end well for the investors, the local towns, or the renters.

Sure they do. You don't see me calling for legislation to stop then from buying, do you?

No, more along the lines of "If you don't like this subdivision, build your own!" .
In this case, that’s the actual problem. The red tape on construction makes the scarce current inventory of homes more valuable.
Investors buying is a symptom of that.
If institutions don’t do it - wealthy individuals will.
