I remember some irony. One of the professors over there, during the first TDS pandemic of 2016 to 2020, was on record that if he worked with anybody who supported Trump, he would quietly attempt to professionally marginalize them as much as possible. This raised no eyebrows, as it is a known thing that people with his mind virus would do. The Trump retribution against wrong-thinkers, on the other hand, is paranoia about extremely fanciful scenarios. This is the difference between the children and the adults in the room. Knowledge and acceptance of actual reality, vs paranoia about fanciful scenarios that would, even in the worst case, merely match what the other side has always lived with.

I think there are several big city mayors that might not find some new immigration rules refreshing.

A Jan 6 lawyer says, I’ve been told for three years in DC courtrooms that using the word “fight” in political commentary is a call for revolution and incitement of violence. VP’s don’t have immunity. Someone might need to investigate the VP’s concession speech. Harris used the word at least a dozen times. Lock her up.

I was hoping this would be a story about the economic effects of deporting a bunch of low paid illegal workers.

@Axtremus said in A New Beast?: An electrical vehicle may be 20% to 30% heavier Considering the beast weighs 20,000 lb that's a lot of extra weight. However, considering it's flown on a C-17 Globemaster, it's probably within spec even at the higher weight. C-17 is rated at about 170,000 lb. the matter of charging infrastructure Something tells me that the USAF and SS could come up with a way of charging the beast while it's on the airplane.

Not only do I trust my parents, I trust my in-laws as well. But they give us money. The funny thing is my parents don't give my brothers money.

It’s also worth noting that domestic corporations will benefit from tariffs. Much of that 4k per year per family ultimately goes to them.

IRS Backs Off Threat to Demote Hunter Biden Whistleblower amid Congressional Pressure After presenting Hunter Biden whistleblower Gary Shapley with an ultimatum: resign or be demoted, the IRS has agreed to hold off on taking action against him following an intervention by Republican lawmakers. The office of special counsel, the executive agency tasked with handling whistleblower cases, wrote a letter to House Republicans, obtained by National Review, informing them that the IRS will be staying its ultimatum to either demote Shapley or have him resign from the agency. “Regarding the October 29, 2024 Notice of Intent, we can now report that IRS agreed to temporarily stay the whistleblower’s response deadline and tenure expiration. As appropriate and consistent with the law and OSC’s policies, we will use all tools within our statutory authority to address allegations these whistleblowers bring to our office,” wrote acting principal deputy special counsel Karen Gorman. The letter was sent Wednesday to Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R., Ky,) Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio), and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R.,Mo.), the leaders of the House GOP’s impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. “We’ve been informed the IRS has agreed to temporarily pause its latest threatening action against Gary Shapley. We won’t stop fighting for these brave whistleblowers, who exposed misconduct and politicization in the federal criminal investigation of Hunter Biden” the Oversight Committee wrote on X Wednesday night. "Temporarily..."

Ezra Klein had a monologue today on his NYT podcast, followed by a discussion with a NYT editor. Klein is a big hearted, neurotic, feminine-adjacent sort of person who is devastated at the election, but he is capable of some reflection and actual thinking, which I appreciate. For me, the money quote came at the end of the second part, where he was talking at his devastated colleague, who couldn't actually do much talking at all, because of how devastated she was. Ezra mentioned that maybe, in the wake of losing its historically solid constituency amongs the working classes of all races, it would behoove the democrats to try to understand why people like Trump. His editor couldn't really take that in. She wanted a nap. But I get it. She already knows the reason people like Trump. She's known it for 10 years, and the knowledge has crystalized in her brain. It is not the product of reason or observation anymore, it is just an axiom, hard wired into her. People like Trump because they are stupid and evil. So good luck, Ezra, trying to "converse" with those sorts of people. They are legion.
