The number of unemployment-benefit recipients is falling at a faster rate in Missouri and 21 other states canceling enhanced and extended payments this month, suggesting that ending the aid could push more people to take jobs.

Federal pandemic aid bills boosted unemployment payments by $300 a person each week and extended those payments for as long as 18 months, well longer than the typical 26 weeks or less. The benefits are set to expire in early September, but states can opt out before then.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said the benefits were helpful during the height of the pandemic, but their continuation has “worsened the workforce issues we are facing.”

Missouri's unemployment rate is the 17th lowest in the country at 4.2. Lowest is New Hampshire at 2.5.

From NBC Boston, 5/21: "New Hampshire will soon end the $300 benefit that unemployed workers can get from the federal government but is introducing a $500-$1,000 bonus for unemployed people who find steady work, Gov. Chris Sununu announced Tuesday.

"Anyone who gets a job making $25 or less starting Tuesday and keeps it for eight weeks will be eligible for the Summer Stipend Program, Sununu said. He explained that it was time to switch from incentivizing people to stay home to incentivize them to get a job because the COVID situation has improved dramatically."

The three states with the highest unemployment rate are California, New Mexico and Hawaii.

But, but, they aren’t paying them more?! President Uncle Joe said that was the solution!

Don't tell this to democrats. They don't like having to deal with reality.

Who'd a thunk that when you subsidize something, you get more of it?

And yet the messaging of the left remains that this effect does not exist.

The supply chain for literally everything was a mess for fifteen months. It will take several months for things to get back to normal. This is not the dawning of the age of Aquarius and work will be a thing again. LOL

Extraordinary actions were taken for extraordinary times, as others pointed out time to take new actions to solve the new problems of getting us back to ordinary lives.

Cut all monies except those needed to exist at a subsistence level and watch what happens. Americans would probably chase illegal immigrants down the street and beat them for the jobs they have now...
