Hinterland. Kinda (okay, a lot) like Broadchurch, but less tragic and it's episodic.
And then there's Blood Machines.
cinematography, visuals & and color grading: 11/10.
original sci-fi setting: 8.5/10
plot: uh... 3/10? 4?
annoying feminist undertones: 9/10
takes itself too seriously: 8/10Your really had me intrigued until the "plot" comment.
Oh well.
Well until the feminist undertones comment.
Well until the seriously comment.
Yeah, those.
Perhaps I'll watch "The Expanse" season 4 again.

I mean visually it's amazing. Also it's only an hour, so, small commitment.

Ah, OK. I can waste another hour.

The Stranger on Netflix. English detective show, I think. One episode in. Curious enough for a second.
Stick with it.
Very complicated, though not obscure. Lots of twists with a depressing, but ultimately satisfying conclusion.
Another weekend wasted, LOL.
6 in now. Thoroughly enjoying it.

@Loki they didn't seem to understand the difference between "Funny" and "Stupid."
Some really funny moments immediately followed by something really dumb. Disorienting. One of my tests of bad film is meandering tone.
This is typical of the soulless comedies being produced today. The Office, Parks and Rec...the theme being 'look how stupid ordinary people are'. It is that same kind of snide stuff I cannot abide in Colbert.

Started watching "The Shield." Only a couple of episodes in, but it's very interesting. Some characters are caricatures, but it's engrossing, to be sure. Enjoying Walton Goggins, of course.
Always Goggins. Whatever he is in. The Unicorn is kind of DOA but his work is really good as usual.

Almost finished watching "Crash Landing To You". It is a Korean drama about a hi-so Korean young lady who, during a hanggliding trip, is caught in a storm and blown to North Korea.
Kind of a Romeo- Juliet romance. It is very "Asian" in parts, but I am enjoying it quite a bit. Having spent time in both ROK and DPRK, it is fun to see the show with that eyes.
It is 15 episodes, each one 1 - 1.5 hours long.
Fun show, but I am not sure how well it would do with US audiences.
(BTW, it has English subtitles so you dont need to know Korean language).

Asian women are so beautiful.
After my ex and I separated, I dated around a lot. C'mon, I was an intern, and there was this huge hospital full of pretty young nurses.
There was one, in particular, who really struck my face. Turns out that her family was from Korea, I think, and her dad was a radiologist.
Her name was Jennifer. I still fantasize about her, now and then.

Rewatching Yellowstone. They had a marathon yesterday bumping up interest for season 3. Kostner's best work.
Watched the 1st two episodes of Season 1.
It's...OK. I'm not enthralled so far. Seems to set up too much stuff for later resolution, and the 90 minute first episode was little more than "Let me introduce you to the characters and set up the crisis for the rest of the season."
Costner is good. Much of the supporting cast seems to be caricatured:
- The slick lawyer son
- The daughter with a drug/alcohol problem who's a bitch
- The (not really a son) guy who's treated like a son
- Reservation characters - Didn't "Longmire" do that, and so far, better (Lou Diamond Phillips)?
- Corporate greed - yeah, Longmire did that too.
I'll give it another few chances, but...
