Thanks all! Aside from a cool family road trip, I pulled my bike out of storage and broke a toe? bought some crap to trick it out some. Gatorskin tires, Dura-Ace cables, new chainring, new brake levers, and I'm converting the front thru-axle to a quick release. The work will be most of the fun.

My wife's gonna take over the ebike as soon as it's fixed up. It'll haul the kiddo in a trailer. It's gonna be speedy.

Converting a wheel is easy, but how do you convert the frame?

Nothing on the frame, but the axle might prove to be a bit of a challenge. How do you get the cones and cups to be the right diameter, distance, etc? There are adapters you can get but it seems you have to take a ton of measurements.

      Please love yourself.

        Gatorskin tires

I just bought some of those after getting sick of punctures. I did something wrong, as the inner tube blew the tyre clean off the rim.

It made a hell of a noise, but seems undamaged - which is more than I can say for the inner tube.

        I was only joking

Maybe the rim pinched it? You really gotta push the tube into the tire to make sure the rim doesn't pinch it once you seat the tire. Mine aren't at all flexible in that area so I really gotta shove it in there.

          Please love yourself.

The sad part was there was a 2 minute delay after I pumped the tyre up before the loud bang occurred - just enough time for me to say to Mrs. Phibes ,'See, I told you wasn't completely useless at this stuff....'

              😆

I cannot count the number of times I have completely, utterly, thoroughly lost my shit on the side of a road due to a problem that I didn't know how to solve at the time, but now I consider no big deal because it's happened so often by now.

              Please love yourself.
