Well, some things make sense. Calling it a "dark day" obviously refers to crappy weather = crappy day, not skin color. So that should stay.

White is the color of purity and innocence. Black is associated with darkness, evil, sin.

That's not just "Western culture". It's a universal duality in all cultures. Day vs night. Light vs darkness. Good vs evil. These associations are part of our biology. You can maybe suppress them for a while, but they won't go away.

Not to get all Bill Clinton on you, but it depends on what you mean by "view."

There are areas of Baltimore I walk through where no one pays me any mind at all. And considering those areas are rife with addicts, bums, crazies, and professional panhandlers, that makes all the sense in the world. I just don't stick out by comparison. (My photo lab is in such a place and it's the only reason I go there; they're the only game in town for E6 processing.)

There are other areas in which you're given some pretty hard stares for being there as a white person.

Similarly, it doesn't matter if I'm in the Heart of Whiteness (Potomac or Reston, say) or by the Navy Yard, if I have my camera on me and I'm using it, there are two groups of people who are always constantly aware of me, where I am, where I'm looking and what I'm doing: kids (because kids haven't ingrained their rote tasks yet and they're wide-eyed in ways adults are not), and black folks.

I'm just saying that because I'm not black, for whatever the reason, black folks care very much about what I'm doing with that camera.

Whenever we had to play at Ronan field or Roberts field in Boston we knew we were going to have rocks thrown at our car.

There were a few intersections in Roxbury where they threw rocks at your car based on skin color.

It was my privilege to try to avoid the rocks. Usually if you just keep moving you were ok.

I think it is correct to purge them from IT terminology.

I am far from being a radical "woke" person. But some things just hit the nail on the head. White = GOOD! Black = BAD!

Permit and Deny would be far better choices, IMO.

Except the etymology of the phrase blacklist goes back to the 1600’s and has nothing to do with race. It’s like saying we shouldn’t call it a red light because it might be offensive to Native Americans.
