    I bought a twin-pack of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072WHQFJ7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . . . haven't used them much as yet, but so far I'm happy.

They're small, about 5" long, so they fit anywhere. They have five different modes . . . well, you'll see the deets at the site.

    Anyway, I can recommend this.

      I used to buy flashlights.

      Now I use my phone...

Absolutely. However, the occasions where I need a headlamp are rare (working behind the TV or whatever). Most of the time, it's finding something that Mrs. George dropped under the bed or couch. Easier to pull my phone out than to retrieve a headlamp.

Depends on the job. To illuminate something behind or around obstructions, I like to use an endoscope with LED lights built into the tip, like these: https://depstech.com/collections/endoscopes

Those are very nice but we would have to throw something else out. It's my new rule for decluttering. Any new thing that comes into the house outside of food must be balanced by getting rid of another item of similar storage space.

I have some very similar. They're very handy in the car or for when the lights go out.

In a storm, you don't want to burn down your phone battery for tasks not phone related.

Lastly, do a Harries technique with a phone...

A modern $50 LED flashlight is so good that there is just no comparison to a phone. I have a ThruNite TN12, and I love it. Regardless of whether you make a walk in the forest at night, or need to send a light signal over a distance of miles, or just need it to be bright as day anywhere - these things are awesome.

I'm not dissing the need for some high-quality, high-performance flashlights.

I'm simply saying that in my current life, I don't need them. A headlight and a phone are good enough (though I might consider getting something for the car that @Jolly suggested).

I use those to find lost gerbils in Aquas sister's ass.

                          You were warned.
