Ok, we have a tiny one that we use exclusively for preparing food for our birds, but I'd like to get one to help us with other things. My spouse is a soup making maniac.

I'd like one to make some exotic salad dressings.

I looked at consumer reports - and they seem to focus on fairly expensive ones.

I'd like to keep this south of a $100. Looking at Amazon, Hamilton Beach seems to get a lot of positive feedback.

Anything people would recommend in making this decision? The Consumer Reports recommended unit is the Breville® Sous Chef™ Pro 16-Cup Food Processor which runs several hundred dollars. Reading user reviews, there is a segment of people who feel screwed over by it leaking/breaking and with little recourse. We won't use it that much - and I'd rather have something where I won't be enraged if it fails me in a year.

I'm on my second Cuisinart. My first one lasted 21 years before caving, but this one is being disappointing. I'm not sure if it's a fluke or if Cuisinart has lowered its standards. So I'm not sure what to recommend there.

Besides, it's well over $100. But if my first machine is the true bill, you won't regret shelling out for it.

Otherwise, you could go with this one: https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-FP-8SV-Elemental-Processor-Silver/dp/B00LBZOYAK/ref=sr_1_9

Or you could consider an immersion blender. Here are some for you to look at: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=immersion+blender&i=garden&crid=Q0JWVCOCDGBL&sprefix=imm%2Cgarden%2C217&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_3

We still have a Presto Minnie Max hat was a present before we were married, and we hit 30 years this week. It's fairly small, but I have never really found a need for anything bigger. Made asparagus soup last night with my blender. Also have one of those little Black and Decker Handy Choppers that I have probably used more.

Don't have a clue, but this one piqued my interest:
