The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

This is more than "mildly" interesting.

            That's a fine-looking hound.

                      Isn't that wonderful?

My mum said that when she was a little girl she'd walk up the road to watch the blacksmith at work. It seems so strange from a modern perspective, but she was only born in 1930, so really not that long ago - and this wasn't really out in the sticks, it was a suburb of Manchester.

                      I was only joking

Seems odd that shoeing horses is necessary.

What happens to wild horses feet?

Much less wear and tear… They aren’t carrying a 200lb guy 4-5 miles every day and aren’t pulling an 800lb cart across the city on asphalt or cobblestones….

                                  https://thelivestockexpert.com/why-do-wild-horses-not-need-shoes/

When we had Simon, he had some arthritic issues in his front hocks. The vet/farrier thought it might be because of the way he was shod. The shoes have more "bite" than the hoof, and on various surfaces, they might cause more strain when turning his foot. He hardly ever went out on pavement, and was usually on soft surfaces (shredded rubber in the indoor arena and grass/sand outdoors). We let him go barefoot in front and he seemed to do better.

Farrier was about $150 or so, every six weeks.
