Might as well just close up the stores now. Everybody will be moving out. You think you live in a food desert now? Ha.

You'll recall that several Walgreens' stores (17, I believe) in San Francisco have shuttered because of shoplifting.

Also, you'll recall that laundry detergent (and other staples) are frequently used as "currency" instead of cash. We talked about that a couple of years ago.

            $1.

Any dollar store has a $1 box of laundry detergent. Usually, about 12 loads in the box.

Alternatively, you can take two bars of Ivory soap for about $1, shave one for laundry and dishes, use the other bar for bathing, and you can get by for a week or two.

If you have a washing machine detergent is not always even necessary. A good rinse will do a lot.

And if they have a working washing machine a cry of poverty is a little hard to swallow.

I have an acquaintance running for Manhattan DA and had to check to make sure he wasn’t one of the ones promising not to prosecute shoplifting. He wasn’t.

I am sure Ms Nixon has a plan in place to allow business owners to be compensated for shoplifted items, with taxpayer money.

Is she related to Richard Nixon?

I've honestly no idea who she is. Is she important?

OK, I Googled. She was in that fucking godawful TV show with the horse-faced bint.

                      I still don't care.

She took a not-quite-plausible shot at Cuomo in the gubernatorial primary in 2018. I voted for her. Actually I voted symbolically against him. And again in the general (for the libertarian guy).

Would you have preferred a Nixon win to a Cuomo win?
