Probably a prudent political move under the present circumstances. Definitely a move that will garner broad public support, although I am certain very few even knew - or for that matter, gave any thought to the existence- of such partnerships until the story broke.
The irony of it is that the provincial government invested a lot of time and resources in facilitating and promoting these post secondary partnerships with China over the last thirty or so years.
