    A bit earlier...

        I was thinking Dennis Franz as Norman Buntz, but it was only two shows, even though he did come back as Andy Sipowicz in NYPD Blue.

          I know, I know! Just thought of it.

          :::

          Bea Arthur. All in the family, Maude and Golden Girls.

          Edit: Actually it was as Dorothy in Empty Nest, Golden Girls and Golden Palace as Dorothy. She was also in an Earth Day special as her character.

            3 different characters. Same personality, but different characters.

                Nope. Read the edit. One different show, same character. Actually four times if you count the special.

                But there were actually several once I googled it.

                  You've got the right shows. This character was in all three, the same year.

                    Actually, it looks like she did it twice. Maude was in All In The Family, Maude, and appeared in Good Times...

                      And there have been a ton of crossovers in the Star Trek series... I’m sure Ryker has been in at least 3 series...

                            Right character.

                            Actor's name was Frank Cady.
