Taiwan Heading to Lockdown
-
There is talk in Taiwan that there may be lockdown installed because of COVID.
Taiwan has pretty much been fully 100% open the whole time of COVID. But, cases are rising a bit. On May 12, there were 16 cases, not a whole lot, but when we were at zero a few weeks ago, it is a large increase.
There has not been a whole of vaccines done yet, so that is a problem.

On a completely unrelated news, the new Taiwan passports have "de emphasize" Republic of China in favor of Taiwan.
Below is my old and new.

Is that due to Asian hatred? There's a huge amount of that in America, so I wonder if it's becoming more prevalent world-wide.

No, it is more just deemphasize the word "China". Most people outside of Taiwan, know Taiwan as "Taiwan", not "Republic of China".
There is also talk to rename the national airline. The name of the national airline is "China Airline". In mainland China, the national airline is called "Air China".

“US senators took a military aircraft to Taiwan to announce vaccine donation. To Beijing, that is a major provocation”
