Prokofiev plays Rachmaninoff

Interesting. I like the slower tempo in the middle section.

Amazing! I was at first confused by the good sound quality, but then I found out that it was a piano roll.
From what I can see, the dynamics were added manually after the recording.
He sounds like a good amateur pianist. Nice interpretation, but also pretty uneven at times (for instance, the chords are often rather sloppy). I wonder, though, how similar what we hear is to what he actually played.

By the way, there's also a piano roll recording of this piece from Mr. R himself.

Well it was certainly a different interpretation than what is fixed in my head. As if he hadn’t heard anyone else play it. I thought the best was the middle and the last 30-60 seconds.
Everyone now and then I felt the nervousness of a recital about ready to run off the tracks.

Wow, Rach himself’s playing is crisp.

Not that I don't think Rachmaninoff had the chops to play things extremely crisp, I suspect there may also be quantization effects in that Piano Roll reproduction, especially if Rachmaninoff used half pedals in his actual performance. Nonetheless, I like that rendition very much.
