Well, I was hoping for at least a 27" screen, but nope. It's at 24."

    Multiple colors.

    M1 chip.

4 ports (2 of which are thunderbolt).

Headphone jack on the side of the computer? What the hell?

    Still has a chin.

Uses a power brick which will rout ethernet to the Mac.

    Keyboard has Touch ID.

    1080p camera.

    "4.5K display"

That Mac Mini is looking better and better.

I'm currently saving up for a new gaming laptop or possibly desktop. Neither option will look anything like as stylish as that thing.

It's not a great time to be buying a PC, either.

      I was only joking

Do you have a display in mind to go with the Mac mini?
It will be hard to use other displays after you have been spoiled by Apple's "retina" display. Good luck.

I'm using my Mac Mini with a 34 inch "curved" display. It has a resolution of 3440x1440, which is nominally less than the 5K display of my iMac, but I must say that I like this screen better. It's bigger, it has a nicer aspect ratio, and I don't notice any difference in sharpness. The main downside at this point is that the desk looks a little more chaotic, but that can be dealt with with a few zip ties. Another minor downside is the lack of a built-in webcam.

            Thoughts on these?

            ViewSonic

            Samsung

No. I have an LG but I have no clue what's good or bad

But I'd consider even bigger sizes. The 34.5 inch was smaller than I expected. It's not much more screen real estate than the 27 inch; it's just better usable because of the 21:9 aspect ratio.

I no longer like 60Hz monitors. Even 75 is not that great. 120 is way better on my eyes. And 240 is just like butter, especially for racing and other gaming pursuits.

I went window-shopping with my son a couple of years back, and they had this $3000 monitor on display. I'd never understood until then why anybody would spend so much on one, but I did after being told to clean up all the drool.

WTF ever. You have to factor in the Windows bullshit coefficient, which is about .68.

These days it's not uncommon for me to have Adobe AE, Premiere, and Media Encoder, all open with projects at once. My Surface would start to smell like burning plastic if I had tried that.

                      Please love yourself.

Interesting, indeed, but I guess if one wants to use that thing, one needs to buy the right monitor. I think most monitors won't work with it because something is in the way (including the one I bought).

If it's VESA compatible, it should work, shouldn't it? Unless the ports are that close to where the VESA plate would go.

No. The main problem is that most monitors look like this on the back.

Also be careful with weight distribution ... an additional Mac mini attached to the back of a monitor just might tip it over backwards without additional support. An interesting concept nonetheless. Good luck!

No. The main problem is that most monitors look like this on the back.

                                        Ah, I see your point.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I guess in particular you can rule out all monitors with adjustable height.
