I'm just joking and pulling Mark's leg, so don't listen to me (obviously) 🙂

I have plenty of vinyl, and a turntable. Just haven’t had it running in 30 years. Still lots of CDs here. Never quite got into the device mode.

Yeah, me too, and millions more that followed our leadership.

For vinyl, something everyone needs: a vinyl cushion for an otherwise uncomfortable hardwood chair.

My daughter got a TEAC TN-280BT with a walnut base. It's a 2-Speed Analog Turntable with Phono EQ and Bluetooth. Came with a cartridge - I think AudioTechnica?

She paired that with Edifier bookshelf speakers that have an internal amp so she didn't need a separate amp or receiver.

It is certainly loud enough for her room. Turntable was about $250 and the speakers maybe $150-200?

I thought it was $620 for just the turntable, but it includes speakers.

A bit more than I want to spend. THey're not, by any stretch, audiophiles. I think they're just looking for the cache' of "being hip."

OTOH, G2 will be 3 years old at that time, so it might not be a great idea, LOL.

Audio-technica makes an entry level turntable for somewhere around $120. Couple that with a name brand entry level receiver and a couple of decent budget speakers...You'll have a versatile, decent system at a price above your budget.😄

That is not an audiophile setup. lol It's very basic. Competent components, but everything is in the "entry level".

How about skipping the vinyl and going straight to a vintage gramophone instead? It's even less convenient, the sound is even worse, and the selection of music is even smaller - which means that it is better in every way! I think you can get a "made in China" fake vintage gramophone for 100 bucks or so. 😛

Just hire them a string quarter for the weekend.

Alternatively, you could hire them a string quartet for the weekend.

                      I was only joking
