Pence Weighs In
-
He is obviously looking to the election in 2024. I saw that he has his autobiography coming out in 2023.
He has a tough job as he goes to 2024. He does not want to make mad those who really really like President Trump, but also do it in a way that does not make mad those who really really dislike President Trump.

We'll watch the Never Trumpers to see how they fall out. Will Jonah Goldberg or George Will support a Pence presidency over a second term for Kamala? It will largely come down to the friends they think they have to gain or lose. Nobody ever lost any net social credibility by coming out as a never-Trumper. Maybe that social calculation will become more ambiguous if the Never Trumpism morphs into Never Pence.

That's pretty interesting...I suspect much of it will revolve around the MSM treatment of Pence. If he's declared radioactive by the NYT, Post and CNN, I suspect Will & Company will shun him.

Do you believe there is a scenario where the GOP is still largely in love with Trump and a Trump does not run? That is the only scenario a non-Trump who is/was closely associated with Trump can win the GOP nomination.
Once the GOP falls out of love with Trump, everyone who was closely associated with Trump would be tainted by Trump and would not win the nomination because of the Trump stain anyway.
Pence, Hawley, Cruz, Carson, Graham, Rubio, Pompeo, Paul, Greene, etc., ... none of them have a path around those two scenarios.
