      Busy bodies.

Here’s the final recommendation for the office.

“Make sure NY government agencies and workers don’t treat people differently based on their race.”

      There - done.

I don’t know what she can do except lament the fact that low SES minorities have larger families and are less likely to be able to work from home.

Cuomo already fixed the testing disparity.

Isn’t the thesis that the poor are more vulnerable due to their health, driven by things such as exercise and lack of availability of healthy food..

What is the time horizon to fix that?

Not that it’s not absolutely a worthy effort!

You think she's going to blame it on habits in the community?

That’s my criticism of these things too. There are real, uncomfortable issues across certain communities. And sometimes communities have values that don’t lead their members to be focused on elite universities and careers like more mainstream communities.

But these things have a habit of devolving into “white people do this and white people did that”

Well, we are the white devils, you know. How about we write this one down to it sucks to be poor. You have a lot less choices.

That said, no one in the US needs to remain poor all their lives. But you can't rise up it if you are afraid of being too white. So make your choice. Do you want to be authentically black or do you want your children to have a better life than you? It's ultimately your choice.

Our responsibility, which we have often failed at, is to make that a real option in the minds of the poor of all races.

Copper, I agree with you 100%. I hope that no parents tell their kids, "I hope you grow up to be poor".

There certainly are a lot of cultural issues which hold back people from achieving their best.
