Trolley Problem study

that is an interesting article. Not super surprising I dont think, but very interesting.

That study seems to (so far) have steered clear of the possibility to let chance decide — e.g., just throw a virtual dice and let a pseudo-random number generator decide. I suspect an option like this will appeal to the religious/spiritual people, or generally people who believe that this is such things as “fate” or some “higher power”. Moreover, for systems dealing with inherently hard-to-decide problems where the notion of “fairness” is hard to define precisely yet the sentiment for “fairness” is still highly desirable, deliberately introducing randomness can resolve a lot of issues.
