Is this a real problem, or do we just take it as one of nature's responses to limit the population growth of the human species?
If this is a real problem, what's the recommended public policy response?
What is your personal response? Will you be changing any of your habits or consumption preferences in response to this new knowledge?
Me, I do not know enough to opine on public policy response to this issue yet. Personally I do want to reduce my use/consumption of plastic just to be more environmentally friendly generally, though it has been challenging because, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of plastic seems to have increased -- disposable gloves, acrylic panels, bottles of sanitizers and disinfectants, more online shopping and more take-out food orders leading to more packaging material with plastic, etc.
