Stop Asian Hate
The hate and violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders is heartbreaking. We stand with our Asian-American friends, community, and team to strongly denounce these frightening and painful acts of hate.Asian people have the right to move without fear. That’s why we’re reaffirming our stance as an anti-racist company with the following commitments:
Together with Stop AAPI Hate, we’re working to improve reporting and responding to anti-Asian hate and harassment. If you witness or experience an incident on or off our platform, go to www.StopAAPIHate.org, where you can also find valuable safety tips.
We’re also sharing resources from Hollaback to provide bystander intervention education to everyone who rides, eats, and works with Uber. And, we’re partnering with local AAPI organizations throughout the country to help support their important work across the community.
This is just the beginning. We’ll continue to work locally with the AAPI community to help make our cities safer.
As a reminder, whether you drive, deliver, ride, or order, everyone who uses Uber must abide by our Community Guidelines.Racism has no place on our platform. If you tolerate racism, delete Uber.

As many of you know, I'm Chinese by marriage. As none of you know, I was pulled over two days ago, in Nevada, by a white male police officer. Because I'm Chinese.
I know that this forum is mostly populated by straight white males, so I'm not expecting most of you to be able to relate to my life experiences. But I do ask that you try to imagine what was going through my mind during this traffic stop. Not only am I Chinese, I also identify as bisexual. What are my chances of surviving this encounter with a white male police officer?
I now know what the young men who stormed the beach at Normandy felt. I now know what it was to hear the bullets fly by in the jungles of Viet Nam. I survived. Many of my spiritual predecessors did not.
You should have heard this cop. "I pulled you over for doing 91 in a 55 construction zone, but since the zone just started a bit back, I'll delete that from the ticket and give you this 10 mph over the limit violation, as if the limit were 80."
That's the face of hatred, folks. The banality of hatred. He dares threaten my life as a Chinese bisexual and then attempts to mitigate the aggression by "taking it easy on me" with the citation?
I survived. Not everybody does. And most of you will never, ever, understand.
My healing process has only just begun.

A couple days ago I saw on the Yahoo news feed a story titled "Asian man hospitalized after injuries sustained in beating". Clicking the link took me to a story in which buried in the middle was the info that the incident started with a dispute over dog poop or something. That the authorities did not believe it was race related.
And if it was race related, of course, one must measure, or attempt to measure, the degree of race related hatred amongst the various combinations of skin colors. But that doesn't sell. Only paranoia sells.

Uber is smart to take advantage of free advertising. I can see the marketing department getting all excited about the gift given to them to virtue signal and get out of hell for only having contractors and not employees? Think about that they love their vulnerable non employee population. LOL

You're obviously a white supremacist, at least on the inside.
The actual answer may be: "Oh that's just actual racism, not systemic racism. So nothing to get too worried about. Some people are just racist."

@loki said in Asian hate? Seriously?:
Just show me the beat downs by race both the perp and the victim and compare to the population.
Realistically - that wouldn't tell you much.
I think people who beat down strangers is highly correlated to other factors. Certain minorities exist in concentrations different from their overall concentration in the country.
You can do a bunch of analysis here even if you had really good data - still wouldn't tell you much.

Would my analysis be better or worse than what the media doing?

Well, anything would be better than what the media is doing.
I just don’t think there’s a gargantuan sea shift that happened towards Asians in the last few months.Anyone who started hating Asians in America over events in the last few months is beyond helping anyways.

BTW, maybe our New York guy has more than Asian hate.
Most people don't murder their mother...

Remind me again with all the beat downs that happen on a daily basis why this one in particular received so much publicity and so many others didn’t?

Because it fit the narrative.
But this white guy sure does have a deep tan...

I saw that on the news yesterday or the day before. She was just walking down the street, as was he. He knocked her down and was kicking this woman for no reason whatsoever other than sheer meanness. Three African American men just inside the door where this took place did not go to help her even after he left. They just closed the door and turned away.
Rabid animals. It doesn't help that the media is now creating anti-Asian sentiment.
