Garage heater?

Asking here in case any of you have advice. Three car garage that I plug in a small radiant heater for maybe 10 days Total (when temps get down below zero or stay down in the single digits) keep the temps above freezing so the liquids we store out there don’t freeze. I would like to install something that heats it faster so working out there isn’t so cold. Would love something hanging from the ceiling (floor space is an issue). Needs to be electric. Wondering if it’s worth doing.

@lufins-dad it going to have to hang from the ceiling. Our garage is packed.

@lufins-dad , garage is a disaster, but one of my summer goals is to make it better. my oil painting space is on the other side of the truck, and we have access to the workbench when Steve’s car isn’t in the other car space, so two places we can work in the cooler weather if we could add a little heat on occasion.

We have a low radiator along the entire back wall of the garage. I keep it at 45.

Electric garage heater.

Not horribly eficient, but shouldn't take up any space...

Seems like you'd need one with a built in fan (like the one jolly linked) rather than just radiant electric heat from a single small source like you might use in a room.

Mine's radiant (hot water boiler) but it spans the entire back wall of the garage.

@jon-nyc yes, i think that’s what I’m after, an electric forced air heater, built in. Something we could set low in the super cold, and/or turn when needed to take the chill off.

Yeah. You could even put it on a thermostat.

I found a low range thermostat that goes as low as 35, perfect if you just want to stop things from freezing. I keep mine at 45, the car is not unpleasant to get into that way.

I have a digital thermometer with a base unit and sensors outside, on the back porch and in the garage, and I plug the garage heater in as soon as the temp in there goes below 40. A thermostat control is a good idea.

A couple of fairly obvious things...
Wherever you may want to install the heater, bear in mind hot air rises.
For efficiency, the thermostat should be placed close to the liquids stored.
