Long and short - Pfizer still requires 2 shots, but it’s believed that the booster could be in 3 months and retain efficacy. Also, it appears it can be stored in standard freezers for up to two weeks.
-
They should immediately reschedule those second shots and get more people vaccinated.
I say that as someone with a second Pfizer shot scheduled in 13 days.

“Challenges remain, vaccine experts say, because Pfizer’s vaccine will continue to be shipped in its specialized boxes that can carry as many as 975 vials, making handling difficult for small sites such as doctor’s offices and pharmacies that may not need many doses.”
So you ship to the mega centers, but rather than inject 2000 people per day, you distribute 10000 doses to 500 physicians offices that then each inoculate 20 people per day. Much quicker...
-
“n research published Friday in the Lancet medical journal, one dose of Pfizer’s vaccine was shown to be 85% effective in preventing symptomatic disease 15 to 28 days after being given, according to a peer-reviewed observational study of about 9,000 people conducted by the Israeli government-owned Sheba Medical Center.
”85%? Hell yeah...

Only got the first paragraph, need to register.
"They could also have substantial implications on vaccine policy and distribution around the world, simplifying the logistics of distribution."
I hope they keep the focus upon saving lives. At some point, going too far in any direction will stop only when all of a sudden, people start to die from a vaccine where "it didn't kill so it must be OK" takes place e.g., keeping the vials in a refrigerator, need just one shot, etc.
I'd certainly like to know how they decided the refrigerator works, but it didn't work before? How is that? -

Pfizer is currently manufacturing 10,000,000 vaccines per week for the US. 70,000,000 doses by May 1st. Johnson & Johnson is slated for 20,000,000 in March and I believe 30,000,000 in April. Novavax is supposed to have 50,000,000 on hand... How fast can Moderna produce?
