The Harry / Meghan / Oprah interview

Harry has repeatedly demonstrated that he is not the sharpest knife in the Windsor/Mountbatten drawer. Nevertheless he was brought up as royalty and intimately knows that life, creepy as it is. Meghan on the other hand and like Harry's deceased mother, was not born into royalty and had absolutely no idea what the life of a royal let alone a low ranking royal would be like. The fact that she was of foreign birth is minimal being that royals often marry royals from continental dynasties as bloodline and rank rather than nationality are the qualifiers.
This whole spectacle is really no different than virtually every other morganatic marriage that has occurred in House of Windsor since Queen Victoria. It is a public mess. What makes this one unique is that the Princess of Sussex is very good at self promotion and Harry, like his uncle Andrew, doesn't really know any better.

Yeah, his take is like mine on steroids.
I think where I end up is that what the couple wants is for the royal family to resume financing them. Or else.
It's got all the trappings of a shakedown to avoid bad publicity - unnamed villains (not the royal family though, we haven't started trashing them much - yet), insensitivity to rather incredible mental health issues and racism.

Favorability toward the monarchy is the thing to watch. So far it is pretty overwhelmingly positive- pre Oprah.

Piers Morgan was scathing in his take on the interview.
Until I read that I was pretty anti-H&M.
If they gave out medals for being a complete twat, Piers would have a Victoria Cross.
-
Incidentally, here's some pictures of people that Piers did like...
All of them, except for Ghislaine Maxwell, went to prison for sex offences. Three of them for sex offences with children.
So fuck Piers Morgan and his prognostications. Sorry, pontifications. Prognostications would mean he could see into the future, which you've really got to assume that he can't, based on those pics.

Which goes to show that you can find a photo of almost any celebrity with almost any reprehensible person.
Piers is a former gutter journalist, who worked for a number of British tabloids. Some might say that he's actually the reprehensible person in those photos.
I don't often praise Jeremy Clarkson, however the only criticism here is that he didn't hit him hard enough.

I know nothing of his past, other than he's virulently anti-gun and occasionally says something funny.

He was editor of the News of the World, quite possibly the sleaziest tabloid in Britain, which is really going some. A newspaper that was eventually closed down after the phone hacking scandal. One of the people whose phone was hacked was a murdered schoolgirl.
He wasn't editor at that point, but it gives you an idea.
I wouldn't be too sure whether he's particularly anti-gun. He knew it would get him publicity when he had a show in the US.
Now, he hosts a breakfast TV show in the UK. He's basically a professional cunt - as in, he says lots of controversial things which get him airtime and publicity.
Oh, and Jeremy Clarkson punched him in the face at a party.

@doctor-phibes I hate it when you hold back.
