This tweet was sent many hours before the Cruz stuff broke.
RESPEK. Even if this is done out of political calculations (and I am not saying it is), it is still a good and moral thing to do.

Doesn't he need a negative Covid test within 72hrs of returning? I mean before boarding the plane?
Or is that just for us little people?

Only for the GOP.

He’s seems to have backed off the fairly ridiculous claim that he was just dropping off the girls. Also he and his wife have confirmed it was last minute.
Cruz, known to double down in the face of controversy, was contrite in an interview with Houston affiliate KTRK where he acknowledged the gravity of criticism coming his way both within the state and beyond.
I was trying to be a dad, and all of us have made decisions — when you've got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven't had heater power, and they're saying 'Hey, look we don't have school why don't we go, let's get out of here.' I think there are a lot of parents that would be like, 'Look, if I can do this great.' That's what I wanted to do," he told the TV station.
"[But] really from the moment I sat on the plane, I began really second-guessing that decision, and saying 'Look, I know why we're doing this, but I've also got responsibilities, and it had been my intention to be able to work remotely, to be on the phone, to be on the internet, to be on Zoom, to be engaged, but I needed to be here and that's why I came back."

FoxNews went freaking mental over Obama riding a bike and wearing a tan suit.
Imagine if he'd done this!

Funny, Fox was the first major outlet to confirm the story Thursday morning they came out with it on Twitter before all the other MSM.
But then crickets on their TV channel. (At least Thursday morning)

Poor Ted. First the belly, then the greaseball look, and now this. Poor guy can't win for losing.

@jon-nyc Regarding number four.
There have been several occasions where I have traveled away from home and left our dog. We had someone come in and take care of him while we were away with walks and feedings.
Cruz did the same thing.
So the outrage can be turned down by about 25 to 30%

He has a fireplace and was able to heat that room.
And BTW, I saw Cruz interviewed on FOX Thursday.
Did he make a mistake? Yep. Did he correct his mistake? Yep.
It ain't like saying he voted to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord or opened the border to illegals.

If you've got somebody looking after the dog, I assume they can build a fire, although poodles are supposedly pretty sharp.

Poor Junior.
He was referring to Cuomo, who, last night, got 25% of the coverage that Cruz did.
How many people died because of Cruz's vacation?

See my opening post in the thread.
Re Jr, it’s an odd comment even without the ambiguity. As if Cuomo isn’t getting plenty of heat from all sources.

As I said, this was politically stupid and the optics are bad. But, from a practical standpoint, how did his trip really affect Texans rather than causing an outrage?
The same legacy media that cared not a whit that Austin’s Democrat Mayor Steve Adler was in Cabo San Lucas while officiously demanding his subjects hide their faces behind masks on Thursday descended on Ted Cruz.
