Teachers give thumbs up to new CDC roadmap for reopening schools during pandemic
CHICAGO — A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention roadmap for reopening the nation’s schools during the Covid-19 pandemic got a passing grade Friday from powerful teachers unions.
“Today, the CDC met fear of the pandemic with facts and evidence,” said Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, in a statement. “For the first time since the start of this pandemic, we have a rigorous road map, based on science, that our members can use to fight for a safe reopening.”
Calling the CDC’s proposals “an informed, tactile plan,” Weingarten said it “has the potential to help school communities around the country stay safe by defining the mitigation and accommodation measures, and other tools educators and kids need, so classrooms can once again be vibrant places of learning and engagement.”

Bullshit. The science told us in October-November that COVID didn’t spread easily among kids. They don’t catch it easily and they don’t spread it easily. The bigger concern was the adults, which is manageable.
As a little amusing side note, Loudoun County put in a little alert system that would warn parents if a teacher or administrator had COVID EVEN THOUGH THE KIDS AND THE TEACHERS WEREN’T IN THE SCHOOL!
Our school has 143 teachers and 15 administrators. Since the alert system started, we’ve received 26 alerts. Over 17% have contracted COVID while being outside of the school. We are hearing similar numbers throughout the district.

True.

They aren't following the science now, either. They are following the public opinion polls that are causing the politicians to turn against the teachers... There are Democrat politicians supporting a Reaganesque firing of teachers refusing to go back to work...
